The Laboratory Practices Committee was formed to determine and address laboratory related concerns of the Association’s membership, promote professionalism in laboratory practices, and to sponsor a seminar each year on new and changing laboratory methodologies and requirements.

The LPC’s Annual Good Laboratory Practices Seminar addresses current issues faced by the environmental laboratory community. A hands-on workshop has been included with the seminar to provide practical training that analysts can use in their daily activities. Technical session topics range from specific analytical issues to laboratory management interests. Further training opportunities are also provided at the LPC Workshop held during the VWEA Annual Meeting. This hands-on training opportunity is designed to address the analytical concerns of both operators and analysts.

LPC subcommittees are also busy in a variety of areas. The issues that LPC members have been working on include the environmental laboratory accreditation program, laboratory inspections/audits, and methods. The LPC provides an incredible resource for sharing of information and expertise in a variety of areas. Networking opportunities available within the LPC have proven to be very valuable to the laboratory community. The LPC provides a unique and vital service to the Association. The LPC meets every other month at the Henrico County WWTP for discussion, sub-committee projects, a technical presentation and lunch.  Please email or call the Chair for meeting schedule and directions.
