The VWEA Operations Committee presents:

Topic:  Everything I Need to Know for a Successful Stakeholder Process I Learned in Kindergarten

Speaker:  Brian Murphy, P.E.; Tetra Tech

Presentation Description: In any design or construction project, when facilitators and participants get bogged down in the minutia of the topic, a group can lose sight of the ultimate goal. The means of getting to a successful conclusion can truly be boiled down to some of the first life lessons we all learned for getting along with others. This presentation is a non-technical, light-hearted look at how to conduct a successful stakeholder process applying the fourteen principles of Robert Fulghum’s poem, Everything I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. The presentation takes each of Fulghum’s “lessons” and applies them to the public capital project stakeholder process. The presentation is meant to be a reminder that stakeholder processes are an exercise in getting along with others and are only as difficult as we choose to make them. This webinar will also include a panel discussion about stakeholder processes with utility management professionals from around the Commonwealth.
